Tip Of The Day (Apple): Find Out Whether Your iPhone 3GS Has An Old/New Bootrom

0
Don’t know how find the bootrom of your iPhone 3GS? In some situations, the determination of bootrom comes in handy if you are looking to achieve a software unlock. Today we are going to share two methods which will help you out. Details below!

Do these steps first:

Step 1:Start Settings.

Step 2: Press General.

Step 3: Select About.

Step 4: Your serial and model number would be visible when you scroll down a bit.

Why are you following these steps? You can determine if you have an older or newer bootrom with these numbers.

Checking With Serial Number Method

See the 4th and 5th digits of the serial number. The bootrom will be considered old if it’s below than around week 35.

Checking With Model Number Method

This is quite simple. The model number which begins with MC indicates a newer bootrom. In this image, the model number is starting with MB instead of MC, which means an older bootrom.

I personally feel the second method is more efficient and easy. You can choose any of the two methods. If you already know this tip, refer it to friends who don’t!

Note: These two methods are not 100% accurate. Some users have reported being having a new bootrom while the number is below 40. The results have also varied between the 40-45 numbers. We will come up with a guide in the upcoming days that gives 100% accurate results on this subject.
